Hughey Law Firm’s New Home

Welcome to our South Carolina personal injury blog.  At Hughey Law Firm, I, attorney Nathan Hughey, my partner attorney Stuart Hudson, and the caring staff do we do what we do for a reason – helping families put their lives back together after being injured.  Take a look at some of the examples of people we have helped.  We have recovered almost $28,000,000.00 (Twenty-Eight Million Dollars) for families in recent years.*  Take a look at what some of our former clients have to say about us.

We are a family firm – meaning at Hughey Law HLf blue transparentFirm we put your family first, and we work side by side caring about each other like a family. At Hughey Law Firm, you and your file will never be known by a number but by your name.  Being South Carolina personal injury attorneys provides great opportunity to interact with the people of South Carolina in a meaningful, genuine way.  We truly care about our clients, and we care about their lives.

I am South Carolina personal injury and wrongful death attorney Nathan Hughey, and I feel very blessed to have the chance each day to improve someone’s life.  The people that work with me at Hughey Law Firm, including my partner, South Carolina attorney Stuart Hudson, as well as our staff, all work at the firm because we care.  Attorney Hudson and myself have first worked together ten years ago, at a large defense firm, defending lawsuits for corporations.

harbstandnh2aWhen I, Nathan Hughey, had the right opportunity to help people as a personal injury lawyer, I prayed and thought long and hard, and I made a decision that changed my life.  I decided to leave a six figure salary, with a family to support and have faith in the abilities that God gave me.  I have always identified with the underdog, and I did not grow up South of Broad or inherit a law firm from generations of lawyers.

I grew up in a family where I was fortunate enough to have parents that taught me the value of hard work, of looking people in the eye, shaking their hands, saying “Yes, Sir” and “Yes, Ma’am” and not thinking I was any better than any other person.  What that outidejudsunny2means to me today is that, although I run a law firm, and have degrees hanging on the wall – my clients are my bosses – and I treat them that way.

At Hughey Law Firm, we give clients our personal cell phone numbers, and we don’t stop being available when the work day ends.  We realize that your injury, whether its from an auto accident, a slip and fall, a defective product, or some other South Carolina injury claim, affects your life.  At Hughey Law Firm, as personal injury and wrongful death attorneys, we do what we can to take away the stress for our clients, and make them at ease.

We would love the opportunity to help you with your South Carolina personal injury claim.  We have many cases referred to us by other lawyers, who bring us cases because they believe we will bring a good result to their clients.  We always seek to do what is in our client’s best interests, and we realize that a word of mouth referral is the best source of business there is.  We do not advertise on television, and we get the vast majority of our cases from the friends and families of former clients, or from other lawyers we have worked with or against over the years.

I, South Carolina injury lawyer Nathan Hughey, have made the decision that we handle our cases on contingency fees, which means that at Hughey Law Firm, we do not get paid unless you get paid and we only receive a percentage of what you receive.  We do not charge you to review your case, and we do not charge you if you do not recover.  We do not ask you to advance costs in a case.   We do not charge you interest for costs.  We are here to get you a good result, and we charge a percentage of what you recover, depending on the case.  Fees are calculated before expenses, as the bar requires all lawyers to state in South Carolina.
